The developers behind Ethereum POW fork have reportedly agreed to change the Chain ID so that it is distinct from the Ethereum POS. Although this sounds like a trivial change, it is a very important one in protecting user's assets from undesired consequences like Replay Attacks. Up until few days ago the Ethereum community has raised concerns around the possibility of taking a transaction you perform on one of the chains and replaying it on the other. Imagine owning a CryptoPunk NFT and finding you can get a few bucks by selling it on the forked POW chain. You submit a transaction on POW chain which lists your CryptoPunk for 1 ETH. At this point a bot picks up the transaction you have performed on the POW chain, replays the exact same transaction on POS chain and bundles it with its own transaction to buy your CryptoPunk that you never intended to sell on Ethereum POS. #Cryptocurrency #ETH #Merge
