Today dinner I visit the Ren restaurant at KLCC Suriall Mall, a restaurant that specializes in Shanghainese and Xinjiang Cuisine to try another dish.
This time I order their fried noodles with truffle oil and shredded duck meat.
For those who don't know what truffle oil is, it is a modern culinary ingredient used to impart the flavor and aroma of truffles to a dish. The ingredient is commonly used as a finishing oil in a variety of dishes, including truffle fries, pasta dishes, pizzas, and puréed foods such as mashed potatoes and deviled eggs. It gives the food a slightly garlicky with a deep musky aroma. It's very earthy, pungent, and deliciously funky.
Here are pictures of my truffle oil and shredded duck meat. If you are not a big eater, this plate of fried noodles is actually enough for 2 persons. This dish is great for truffle lovers.
