Let the other person do the talking...

Today, I was reading a book by DALE CARNEGIE and I found a lesson very enlightening and worth sharing and it goes as:

It says when we are trying to win others to their way of thinking we do too much talking about ourselves. But the point here is they won't pay attention to you because everyone has their own ideas of a lot of their own crying for expression. Let the other person speak about themselves, they know more about their business and problems than you do so ask them a question or few and let them tell you.

And here is an interesting story of a mother and daughter: The mother was a very bossy type and her daughter was a very complacent child and their relation was deteriorating rapidly, the mother used to lecture her, punish her, and threaten her. One day she just gave up because the daughter disobeyed and had left the house to visit her girlfriend without completing her chores. The mother's temper got very high and wanted to scream at her daughter thousandth times, but she just couldn't help herself and just said three words "Why Laurie, Why"??. At which her daughter asked do you really want to know? She nodded and the daughter told her that she never listened to her, never loved the way a mother should, always expected only her level of attitude to be expressed, and never gave her daughter a chance to express herself. The mother was listening to everything very calmly and the daughter keep on telling what she wanted? how she wanted?. And on that day the mother realized that she was speaking when she needed to have listened, and thereafter she always gave her daughter space and let her do the talking.

Their relations finally improved and they both became very friendly to each other.

THANK YOU! HAVE A CHEERFUL DAY.
