Facts about the recent Read.Cash update
Few weeks ago, Read.cash launched what I considered (and still do) a huge step forward for this platform to the future: The points system, which will be the second way possible here to earn some BCH alongside with tips. That system made me and many other original content makers happy because it's not that easy here to earn some tips, so being able to collect points through writing original articles and honest comments made most of the users here happy. We all know that the system is still in test. But lately, there were many problems floating on the surface because of people trying to use the rules for their advantage: Many meaningless articles with no goal except for earning the 20 points, an incredible amount of copy-pasting for the same reason, a lot and I mean A LOT of spamming comments for the sake of getting the 4 points (I saw someone commenting the same comment with the same typos and mistakes on every article). As a result, there were many complaints from original content makers about spending hours writing and reviewing their content only to earn the same amount of points as any of those spammers and of course I agree with that complelty. Many well known content makers on the platform expressed their anger toward this situation, and some even choosed to leave Read.cash denying any chance to return here in the future. Obviously, it became essential for the team of the platform to take actions trying to stop this continuing wave of spamming from spreading even more. Basically, Read.cash team took 2 decision for that reason. The first one is to check regularly the articles and comments either using specific programs or even manually to ban and delete most of the spams like the spammer's case mentioned above who got banned. Not only that, they added the option of blocking the spammer in the comment without having to go to his profile page. The second decision, which is as important as the first one, is to make some changes to the points system in a way that guarantees the right of the original content makers. In short, good high-quality original authors will receive better pay than others using criteria like the number of views, proper english, upvotes, a program called CopyScape, manually checking and alot more. Personally,I find those decisions more than necessary to take, and it should be only the beginning to fight the spammers. Obviously, that means many people here will got banned and will not be able to use this platform and that's go a little against the goal of Read.Cash which is encouraging as many people as possible to use BCH, but we also have to keep in mind that this project is still relatively new with limited financial and even human resources, and keep giving those spammers what looks like free money to them, no matter how small the amount is, will just consume the fund without anything good in return. So that's just a financial burden. Worse, it will encourage more spammers to join the community and original content makers to leave since it won't be fair to them, making the website a huge pile of spam and copy paste articles with zero quality which will be the wrong turn for this platform because none will want to join or sponsor a website where there is only a huge amount of garbage articles. In short, this update is very important and will help Read.cash become even better with less spammers, but we have to make sure that the spammers won't be able to trick the algorithm this time. I cannot agree more. These steps are necessary. I, too, considered to leave when this problem was at its peak. I decided against leaving right then, because I believe in the idea of Read.cash and wanted to see what they would do to try to resolve it first. So, let's hope we are all on the right track now and can get rid of the worst abuse.

I'm very happy and thankful that you decided to stay, otherwise who else will give me some positive criticism haha. And yes, this decision was more than needed for the sake of this platform. It is unfair to earn the same points as someone who just doesn't stop copy-pasting articles and even comments with no creative content. That money no matter how little it is should be going to people who deserves it.

These steps are good it will help reduce spamming because I have also seen two people who commented on all my articles. And do you know what all comments were the same no changes . So I think this will really help.
Yeah i know the feeling, the spammer i mentioned in the article did the same with me and other countless articles...It's very annoying. Best part? i'm very sure that a spammer or more will comment this exact article like nothing happened.
I see it the way you do. The goal of attracting more users to Bitcoin Cash cannot be achieved at the expense of the quality of the website. Such a strategy would be very short-lived and would certainly lead to the website's decay. There are enough examples of such failures.
Exactly, and all the content makers here doesn't wish for something like that to happen. And yes, when you give BCH for honest comments and articles you expect an increas of quality. But when you give spammers that money, you should expect nothing in return except for tons of trashy spams.
However, I do not know how read.cash intends to accomplish this task. Manual checking of all comments is too complex and takes too long. Automatic checking can be fraught with errors. I am really curious if this measure will reduce the number of spammers.
Absolutely, when Read.cash grows more, the manual checking will be very ineffective and so complicated to do. That's the next problem will be facing the platform: How to prevent spamming when the number of users gets bigger? In another article (I forgot the author's name) , Read.cash mentioned that they are working on a system wich will be able to prevent people from spamming. They didn't give much details because they said the idea is still being studied and won't be ready before months. So i guess that we can only wait and see. But in the other side i think that honest users should help with the manual check even a little, reporting a spammer won't take alot of time and that will make the job a bit easier for the moderators. Not the best solution but it will make things easier don't you think?
I also think that users could find and report spammers in their blogs. But you have to be careful with that, because it can be abused. I don't know of an ideal solution either, but maybe read.cash could lead the internal ranking of trusted users. Their bans could be taken into account in the user rating. I hope that read.cash will find a solution.
After reporting someone, Read.cash will have to look at that and decide if the reported user deserves to be banned or it's just an abuse. But that means people should be hired to do that. It's not the ideal solution obviously And i don't know if that is an option or not for the moderators. I also hope they will come up with something effective in the end. I started using the platform yesterday and I must say that I found some quality article on the site which I believe in the long run will definitely add value to my life. It would be unfair to the system if such quality creators are allowed to leave. It will be detriment to the growth of the platform. The approach taken is a nice step
The system itself isn't the reason that pushes content makers to leave the platform. In fact it's the spammers who are using it. None will be happy to know that content makers and spammers are equal here.
I have been using this platform for a long time and there is definitely more than just a quality item here. I have read a lot of very interesting well written articles here and I have spent quite a few satoshis here.
It is sad and disgusting when people spam different articles with the same comment, copy-pasted. " article talking about north, comment talking about south". This will definitely repel away the potential sponsors of read.cash. "Please let all hands be on desk to aid read.cash achieve its mission and vision". Thanks.
I hope so! if everyone put their efforts on making this platform as good as possible instead of searching for what they call "the free money", i can guarantee that Read.Cash will grow much more than it already is now!
