Do you know the "tuna"? Its scientific name is the *Nopal* or *Chumbera,* depending on the populace. Its initial leaves are strengthened to support the next ones that join and make their long branches. They make it so that the initial penca can get a cylindrical shape. Sharp 5 cm long spines develop on each stalk. These stalks are widely used in Mexican culinary art, there they use them in different ways like stews, salads, soups and others... Flowers develop at the upper ends of the stalks, as many as the stalk allows.
Then the flower dries and a red fruit develops. With a thick shell and very small spines widely distributed over the entire surface of this shell, inside you can see an equally red pulp with a slightly sweet taste, with multiple seeds that are very small and can be digested.
The plant will continue to grow and reach heights beyond 5 mt.

Reminds me of the dragonfruit. But this is a fascinating cacti. I didn't think other kinds of these could bear fruits too
Yes, there are several types of cacti that bear fruit. This cactus has this dune that is a little sweet on the palate, but is as red as a beet, staining the fingers a deep red. I also have the pitahaya cactus, but it is still too small to bloom. But I'm going to post a friend's plant that did bloom.
I only know sand dunes and dune buggies. What are dunes on cacti? That sounds like a yummy fruit to taste... I've only ever had dragon fruit and even those aren't that sweet yet they stain clothes as if the extract were paint- ohh I'll be waiting to see that UwU
Yes, the dunes are the fruits of the cactus. They are similar to the ones in my photo, but they are usually larger. My cactus plant is still small. This fruit stains hands a lot. I have not seen the dragon fruit yet, only in photos, I hope my plant can bear fruit one day.
Maybe I'll use that dune idea in my prompts because a sand dune seems way too predictable to me 😅 i hope uour cacti grows big enough that it can bear larger fruits though. I bet it would be a great feast when that happens
