Discrimination, or what?

Greetings friends of this great family, here I am hoping that you are doing very well at this time.

There is something that I have been seeing lately in videos and it has caught my attention enough to write about it.

Technology nowadays is at everyone's fingertips and we very often see stories and watch videos about people who have been recorded doing heroic acts and also many doing vile acts.

So many videos are recorded that, when people want to harm others, they are discovered because somewhere someone was recording the scene, as well as it also happens with recorded videos of people doing humanitarian acts.

From unsplash

And I am not referring to the reality shows but to those videos taken occasionally or accidentally. These are the ones I want to refer to. I have seen how in many countries’ videos are recorded of scenes where there is discrimination, not only with Spanish speaking people but with people who perform various tasks.

Recently I saw a video where English-speaking people reproached the owner of the restaurant for speaking in their native language, that they should only speak in English. He was referring to the owner of a fast-food restaurant who was Mexican and the ladies asked him not to speak Spanish in their country.

Sometimes we are very offensive and we use our gray hairs to get on top of others. My way of seeing things is more open. I grew up in a Spanish speaking country and when our economy was doing so well many immigrants from different countries came over here, they spoke their respective languages and made colonies or clubs where they met.

Chinese, Japanese, Germans, Italians, Portuguese, Indians and from many other lands came to this country looking for a better way of life and they got it. We are not people who discriminate, we are kind people and we support those who come to this country.

I make this remark because I see nothing wrong with people speaking their language as long as it is not to address another person who will not understand it. We have our mother tongue and a second language depending on the country that welcomes us, that does not mean that we will forget our language, culture and roots.

The authority gave the reason to the owner of the restaurant who asked the ladies not to return to his restaurant because the atmosphere there was social and not discriminatory.

I also saw another video where a guy with a Latin demeanor was walking with his dog and the lady on the other side yelled at him and asked him to get his dog out of the way so she could pass. He replied that his dog would not attack hers and that they could both pass but the lady got offended and started yelling that the boy's dog was attacking her and the boy told her not to lie that his dog was not attacking anyone. The lady got to the point that she threw herself on the ground pretending that the dog attacked her.

She did not know she was being recorded and the authorities saw that.  I ask myself, why are there older people who abuse others and rely on their age to do harm.

How many people have been unjustly prosecuted because someone swore that they saw it, that they witnessed it and that it was that person and without gathering more evidence in a discriminatory trial, they have been imprisoned for years.

Why do people feel good about hurting others? I do not understand why they do not want to live in peace and try to verbally attack, to separate, to judge, to criticize others without even knowing the details and just to impress that they know what they say or do.

The world is full of people of low character, that instead of leaving good traces, they leave their dark traces along the way. They do not have forgiveness, they do not have acceptance with others, they impose themselves on the judgments and ways of life of others.

There are many people who cannot live a life in peace and do not let others live in peace either. I don't know what kind of personality you approve of but I prefer to live peacefully without doing harm and help those I can while I can. Without interfering with anyone's way of life no matter how eccentric it may seem to me. It is the life others choose to live and I chose mine.

Thank you, friends, for reading and I look forward to reading your comments on the subject, thank you very much.

I'm @gertu13 from Venezuela to the world.

I feel so sad at the level of ignorance and hate a person has for the next person who is quite different from them in some ways. I don't see discrimination ending anytime soon as long as humans see things differently, but it will be a glad thing if there will be a way to purge this people of such bad character.

It is sad that people try to bully others and enforce their way of life on others. I think the entire thing is a power play sometimes. Here you speak of discrimination based on the language you speak. My thing is, if a foreign language intimidates you that much, then there are enough tools available to learn that language and to be able to converse in it. And wouldn't you be better off then? You'd have added to your knowledge while avoiding conflict and discomfort. There's also discrimination based on your age, gender, hair texture, skin color, education, social status, religion, and where you live. Whatever form discrimination presents itself in, to me they are all terrible. It's a scourge that I wish the world could be rid of.

And each time we as human beings invent more and more categories to separate us from each other. People tend to think that we should be in bubbles with no contact with others. We ourselves are causing so many divisions that we are gradually causing our own destruction.

It's crazy to realise how inhumane some people can be, how they grow hate in their hearts for no reason and how many people have suffered from wrong treatments and accusations

It is unfortunate that technology evolves and people do not.

I believe we all are one, and regardless of our Race or language, we must and should treat ourselves well, without discrimination. It pains me reading about this, cos I don't expect people to still behave in such a disdainful manner. It's high time these people are brought to Justice

I think there are more of us who wish to treat everyone with respect but it sounds and rumbles more when a few are inhumane and disrespectful to their fellow man.

Truth is that there are masochists who derive pleasure from hurting others. That could be a factor and not necessarily cultural or racial discrimination. I once saw a video where someone got down from a car and started hurting a woman because she didn't let her steal her dog (puppy) she was walking. I was confused and couldn't understand what was happening.

It's just that so many crazy things happen that our brains can't quickly interpret what's going on. If it's a video we have to play it several times to begin to understand what's going on.

I live in London (UK) and it is a very multicultural City. Indians, Italians, Spanish, Polish, Romanians and many other cultures. At work I met all of these nationalities. There was one criteria for us. We should speak only English even if we would understand each others' language.

Once we were out of work nobody cared about it how we speak.

yes, because the rules are imposed by the boss. It cannot be that clients come later and change the rules.

I take special care to stay away from such people.... If it will cost my peace, then I don't have time or energy for it. Once I know the character and mindset of someone, then I would definitely know how to relate with them

It is good to stay away from toxic people, definitely.

I'm so happy about the invention of the CCTV camera because most of these discriminatory acts wouldn't have been captured. Most people would have been suffering for offences they didn't commit

it's sad that humans are hurting humans, discrimination because of speaking his own language is just too much...

I don't see anything wrong with a man choosing to speak his own native language, even if the said individual is not in his native home. They shouldn't be discriminated just for that. The English language is a universal language, that's agreeable. But enforcing someone to use it at all time would somehow harm his originality. That's what I think, gertu. :)

There's nothing as swift as equality of the human race irrespective of where they are from, their languages spoken, the importance of their countries and many more. Equality of purpose is just the best as it keeps all races happy. Good morning @gertu13 and hope you had a great high sleep

It is a utopia because there is no such equality. We humans take pleasure in looking for differences to separate us instead of looking for similarities to unite us. My friend here now it's barely 2am. I will continue sleeping 😸. Thanks for the wish.

It is sad to know that they live with a level of hatred in their hearts that does not allow them to evolve.

everyone should be treated fairly. Why would they force the owner to only speak English language, not unless he was talking to those mean girls. I just can't understand why people like them exist.

They are people who, because they were born in a country, believe that foreigners have no right to seek to live in it. they repudiate them and at the same time they need their services.

As we have 5 fingers with different shapes and structures same, people are different attitudes. Some are good and some are very toxic. Mean point is that we have to decide how we keep ourselves away from these people.

There comes a point where no one wants to be next to those people who are exclusive of the human being.

I also don't understand why there are such people who don't have a heart and seem like doing bad things against others is so easy for them.

Discrimination is all about the mindset of people. We speak against it because we are the exploited ones. Those who do and advocate discrimination are in majority, and support individualism. While it may seem to be one kind of problem, I see it as one of the ways of behaving.

Read the history, discrimination was from the times of origin of humanity and it has been prevailing till now. We can't change it. But we can oppose it by maintaining our atandards. Because I know those who do? Prays for money.

Discrimination is still widely practice in some countries and that's very rude of them. How unjust to discriminate because of one's race and entity.
