The phrase that puts a de facto ban on #Bitcoin has been removed from the #EU regulation! Negative news in the last few days has upset and demoralized us all. But life goes on and there is good news too. A European law has been revised recommending restrictions on environmentally unsustainable consensus mechanisms. Other mining-based #blockchains and #cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum, Dogecoin, Litecoin, and #Bitcoin #Cash, will likely follow the same rule, although they use much less energy than Bitcoin itself. The relevant article drew criticism and the voting planned for February 28 was postponed due to the reactions. The final draft of the bill is expected to be voted on in mid-March or early April. It will then be discussed in the European Commission, the Council of Europe and the European Parliament.
