Can blockchain be a tool for humanitarian aid? "The Helperbit team launched a pilot project to investigate the place of cryptocurrencies in humanitarian aid in 2018. Helperbit first worked with an Italian NGO called Legambiente to help earthquake victims. Many homes and workplaces were damaged in the earthquake in the center of Italy. Thanks to Helperbit, 10 Bitcoins (equivalent to $ 50,000 at the time) were raised in donations. This contributed to the restoration of buildings and provision of food aid to earthquake victims."
