Vegetables are part of our lives because they contain many vitamins that are very useful for the body. During the pandemic that hit the world, many people are looking for solutions to be able to work and earn from home. and this time I will share the business of cultivating lettuce which is done by hydroponics. 1. Choosing the Best Plant Seeds The first step before planting lettuce is choosing the type of lettuce, each type has its own advantages. You can find the best plant seeds at plant stores, farm supply stores, or local farmers who have cultivated them. Don't forget to choose good and quality lettuce seeds as long as they produce good plants. 2. Preparing Planting Media After getting the plant seeds, the next step is to prepare the planting medium so that the seeds can grow. This planting medium is loose soil, manure, rice husks, pots or polybags, for pots it can be of any material. 3. Planting Plant Seeds You can mix soil, rice husks, and manure into one with a higher ratio of soil. After that, put all the planting media in polybags or pots, make a hole as deep as 2 cm, and put the seeds into it. Seedlings begin to grow in a few days, leave it for two more weeks, usually there are 4-5 leaves. 4. Cultivating Cultivated Land You can prepare further planting land if you want to move it to open ground. If not, you can continue to plant them in pots or polybags so that they can finally be harvested. 5. Moving Lettuce Plants If you want to transfer plant seeds to a larger area, do so carefully. Don't let the time you move the seeds, you damage the roots of the plants so they can't be replanted. 6. Caring for Lettuce Plants In order for plants to grow and develop, you do have to do regular maintenance. Don't forget to check the soil, fertilizer, plants, and water, everything must be in good condition. 7. Watering Plants Regularly Plants need an adequate supply of water, you can water them regularly in the morning and afternoon. If it rains, you should reduce the frequency of watering, but try to keep the soil moist. 8. Uprooting Weeds Don't forget to remove any weeds that may be growing around the lettuce, these plants are definitely annoying. 9. Checking the Drainage System The area around the lettuce plants must be considered so that there is no standing water on the lettuce plants. 10. Harvesting Crops After reaching the end of 40-60 days after the lettuce seeds are sown, the plants are ready to be harvested, when pulling the plants do it slowly.
