A response to Hayden Otto's "full comment"
As lead maintainer of Bitcoin Cash Node (BCHN), it saddens me when I see a respected member of the Bitcoin Cash community present a counterfactual and incorrect picture of our open source project. https://bitcoincashnode.org I've highly admired Hayden Otto's work to promote Bitcoin Cash adoption, not only in Australia but everywhere. He has the right idea of BCH's importance and capability to uplift people, and he acts with the conviction of his beliefs. A strong will is a good thing if informed by facts. If not, it can be destructive, to others and to one's own work. Recently, Hayden posted the following comment on Twitter regarding the recent disagreements over what replacement difficulty algorithm should be used for BCH. https://twitter.com/Hayden_Otto/status/1290843523466457089/
Correction! This 'full comment' is wrong on several fronts which I would like to emphasize to promote a better understanding. **Fixing the DAA is a priority issue for many in BCH** and was brought up in 2019 among conferencegoers at Bitcoin Cash City conference in Australia. **All confirmation times of transactions are affected** by current broken DAA, not only exchange deposits. **Grasberg is not an enhancement over ASERT at all**. It performs worse in simulations. **BCHN was not created to rally against ABC**, but to avoid a split and disinvestment of stakeholders that was likely to be caused by ABC's IFP proposal, evidenced by the signatures of a huge part of the BCH ecosystem. **BCHN has been adopted by miners and businesses** that build on BCH, to a greater extent than is widely known. **BCHN exists on donations, has public, auditable bookkeeping and does not endorse calling anyone who uses competing cryptocurrencies an "enemy operative"**. Many BCH miners mine those chains, even those who have in the past funded ABC. **Bitcoin Cash is more than Bitcoin ABC**. To claim otherwise is misleading. It is my sincere hope that Hayden reflects on the issues. The door at BCHN is always open for him and anyone else to get to know the professional team of dedicated contributors who have as much interest in the success of Bitcoin Cash as he does. Of course, being a liar such as yourself, you are going to spin everything in such a way that ignores his point so you can just make yourself look good. You are an anonymous individual who made tiny contributions to Bitcoin ABC back in the very beginning along with a few other random anons, yet you call yourself the creator of BCH. No, you didn't, and you HAVE NOT put in the pow of maintaining it. You are just a politician that wants to overthrow ABC, along with (Ex-)BU members that helped form your "node" (which is just a fork of ABC) which you named "Bitcoin Cash" Node to **dishonestly** mislead people into thinking that you represent BCH and to try to steal the ticker in the event of a split. Its coopting the brand 101. The DAA is not a big deal to those who use 0-conf, especially since Avalanche on BCH is being developed. Yet ABC is fixing it for you guys, and are choosing to start a holy war over a small detail that does not matter. Grasberg is literally 99.9% the same thing as ASERT. You are instigating a split and pretending that its Bitcoin ABC, when they were the first to formally announce inclusion of their DAA into their codebase. And no, i cant think of any miners or exchanges using and adopting your fork software.
Well put. Please post this to reddit.
Done. :) Lets get downvoted together, it brings honor to our names.
If Grasberg is literally 99.9% the same thing as ASERT, why did Amaury waste his time and our money (I did donate to ABC in the past) developing Grasberg in the first place?
Guess Hayden will ragequit and go back to shillin PascalCoin like in 2018 🤷♂️
God damnit, Hayden... get a grip
I saw a comment on cointelegraph by Otto I believe that he just created some troll about but the comment wasn't well received, I believe when it comes to say something about the BCH community he just need to think twice, not just open a mouth and say things that can be considered an upfront to the all work done to develop the BCH community, people many times misunderstand the BCH with BCH ABC and that is dangerous " BCH can still live without BCH ABC but BCH ABC can't " Bitcoin Cash is a community and a project of supporters worldwide, people should understand that the one is just a software that can be exchanged by another😯
