Today I had to apologise for something I did not do. And it's really very hard to swallow. One of our patients had a fall when I was on my days off but his sister came on my shift today very upset about it and demanding an explanation. I can't really give her any as I am not there when it happened. All I can do was apologise and absorb her outrage. People should be kinder to health professionals we have already had a lot of people quitting this field and we are always understaffed. We shouldn't be verbally abused too.
