Never Compare
***Why a parent must stop comparing her/his child to others?*** As a parent we don't want our children outgrow in anger, hatred and jelousy.
***Comparing*** them to others or even with their siblings will not help them to be better. A child will most likely develop insecurites from others and doubt his abilities and skills. Just try to imagine if we are told by someone that we're not good at something and that there are others out there who can do better at it. Ofcourse! *self-doubt* will grow. Just in our children, they will be left wondering if they can ever be good enough. If you keep comparing your child to the other kids, may it be his/her cousin, classmates or siblings he/she will most likely developed *jealousy*. This feeling not healthy and if left not altered in any way it may turn into *hatred*. You don't want that to happened right? Comparing your child may greatly damage your relationship as parent-child. Children are emotionally vulnerable. They may not be able to see the bigger picture that you are concerned for them. Instead, they'll feel that you are not on their side. Instead of comparing them we parents, should remind ourselves that every child is special and each one of them have their own uniqueness.
I'll share to you an old saying: ***"Comparison is the thief of joy."*** In this world full of criticism don't let your child be one of the victims. Let us nurture our children with love and kindness for they are gifts given from up above. *There's no* ***perfect*** *parents but you can always be a* ***good*** *one.* `Free Images from https://pixabay.com`

Yes comparison indeed steals joy. We can nurture children by motivating them instead of comparing them to others
True because we never know what they'll feel especially if they are compared to others.
I agree never compare your child with others, not to other children, their siblings or yourself. It would be great if doctors, teachers, the society practises it too. Children are different and each human being is an individual. π
Very well said @wakeupkitty. I too hope that teachers, doctors or other professionals and the society will practice that too. Just like the trees and the flowers children must not be compared. π
All this comparison only works negatively. Everyone has something special, his own skills, there's no need to be like someone else. It would be a boring world plus not one single invention would be done. You wrote about a good subject worth discussing.
That's right and by the way thank you for reading my article. π I am new in this platform and I hope I can create more articles or much better articles one day.
Welcome. I will follow you. You can write an introduction post and submit it to the community Introduce Yourself https://read.cash/c/introduce-yourself-c32c It would be a long list of communities to leave here which I (help to) moderate but please keep in mind communities have rules. We go for quality and a minimum of words. π
Thank you so much for your words I really appreciate it.π I will follow you too.
I agree. Being compared is the worst feeling ever for a child specially if parents are the one doing the comparison. As a child, I was constantly being compared by my mom to my dad's bestfriend's daughter, saying she's always better, nicer, filial and many other words of comparison. Even though that girl has done nothing wrong to me I've hated her my entire childhood. And I also didn't have a good relationship with my mom because of she keeps comparing me to other kids. I felt like she's never satisfied of my works and my achievements, and just like what you said, it made me lose my self esteem and confidence so I grew up always being shy and unable to express my thoughts and feelings. But now, I've moved on from that unpleasant childhood memories. I've got a lot of experiences that taught me how to be more confident and let go of any bitter feelings towards my mom. She's my mom after all and I've come to understand that she only wanted me to be a better person.
Thank you for sharing this with me. Being compared is not healthy, especially with children. It may lead to serious relationship damages, as what I've said above. Maybe that feeling you have before towards your dad's best friend's child was jelousy. I'm glad you overcomed it and become a better version of yourself. πβ€οΈ
I guess you're right. I was jealous that my mom favors her more than her own child. But it also serve a lesson not to make my future child feel that way.
