In international relations, we have this so-called principle of reciprocity, that is favors or benefits granted by one state to its citizens should be returned in kind. On the other hand, we have this golden rule that you should do to others what you would want others to do on to you. We can as well trace back its history in the Holy Book as the second great commandment, to love your neighbor as you love yourself.
