What are Mystic and Origin Axies?
What are Mystic Axies?
Mystic Axies are the pinnacle of rarity in Lunacia. Axies can possess more than one Mystic trait, however double, triple and even quad mystics are almost impossible to acquire. Currently, there are 109 single Mystics, 30 double Mystics, 3 triple Mystics, and 1 quad Mystics – totaling only 143 Mystics in existence. P2E News was unable to verify information of whether or not Penta Mystics or Hexa Mystics do exist yet.
Mystic Axies were born special. Mystic parts are special body parts that are only found in some of the Origin Axies. These parts will never be created again and cannot be inherited. Each Axie has 6 parts: Eyes, Ears, Mouth, Horn, Back, Tail. During the presale, there was a chance that your origin Axie could randomly spawn with Mystic parts. In general, it was around a 25% chance in acquiring a single mystic trait.
What are their current prices?
As you can understand, the reason why Mystic Axies are so expensive is that they are super rare. The following is their current prices as of July 13th 2021:
Single Mystics: $55,516.80 – $21,548,119.97 (PHP 2,782,557.53 – PHP 1,080,013,321.02)
Double Mystics: $193,892.63 – $4,284,096.88 (PHP 9,720,903.95 – PHP 214,785,339.13)
Triple Mystics: $2,571,939.00 – $9,532,368.89 (PHP 129,003,316.36 – PHP 478,124,558.78)
Quad Mystics: $7,509,433.75 (PHP 376,613,121.43)
Penta Mystics: N/A
Hexa Mystics: N/A
Are they a good investment?
Many would agree that a Mystic Axie is a stable long term investment, similar to that of a PSA 10 Base Charizard from Pokemon. Remember that one of the reasons why Mystic Axies are so highly valued is that not only are they rare, but Mystic parts are the only parts that can be upgraded into legendary body parts inside the game in the future.
What are Origin Axies?
Origin Axies are Axies that were created during Axie Infinity’s two-month pre-sale event in 2018.
How many are there?
At the presale, Axie infinity set a hard cap of 4,088 Origins that were to be sold. Currently there are only 269 Origin Axies in Axie Infinity Marketplace and the floor price is 4.4 ETH as of July 13th 2021.
Are these Axies rare?
Yes. Origins were the Axies sold at the first ever Axie sale in 2018 and are the foundational blocks of the Axie movement. Origins are the first tagged Axies that were released and there will never be more Origins. They are well respected for their rarity, but have no current aesthetic benefits and in-game utility, yet.
The fact that these Axies are rare and “original” has shot their prices up to a range of $9,621.51 to $21,374,987 USD (PHP480, 000 to over 1 Billion Pesos).
Are Origin Axies a Good Investment?
Well, we think they have the potential to increase in price! Remember, people love limited assets and blockchain is great for ensuring scarcity and ownership. Origin Axies are one of the best fixed quantity asset, more specifically low ID origins are a very niche market to get into.
Origin Axies are also passports to different experiences. For instance, the closed beta was open to all Origin holders, while non-Origin holders had to wait for the Open Beta. More about that in another post.
The class of an Axie is important for combat, because each class is weak and/or strong against other classes. Axie Infinity has 6 “normal” classes: Beast, Bug, Bird, Reptile, Plant, and Aquatic.
Aquatics are incredibly versatile because of their high Speed and good HP. They are particularly strong against: Beast, Bug, Mech but are weak against: Reptile, Plant, Dusk.
Beasts are strong against Reptile, Plant, Dusk but are weak against Aquatic, Bird, Dawn
Birds are strong against Beast, Bug, Mech but are weak against Reptile, Plant, Dusk
Bugs are strong against Reptile, Plant, Dusk but are weak against Aquatic, Bird, Dawn.
Plants are strong against Aquatic, Bird, Dawn but are weak against Beast, Bug, Mech. Plants’ ability to absorb a high amount of damage, while also gaining Energy and destroying the opponent’s energy, makes them an easy choice when choosing your team setup.
Reptiles are a great sub-tank or off-tank, because of their high base HP and Speed. They are strong against: Aquatic, Bird, Dawn but are weak against: Beast, Bug, Mech.
The three “secret” classes in Axie Infinity are:
Mech: Offspring of a pure breed Beast Axie and a pure breed Bug Axie.
Dawn: Offspring of a pure breed Plant Axie and a pure breed Bird Axie.
Dusk: Offspring of a pure breed Reptile Axie and a pure breed Aquatic Axie.
The Top 3 Axies I Recommend
When talking about the most popular Axies, it would be the Plant, Beast, and Aqua. These three as of recent months have become some of the most common PVP combinations (ABP). Most players feel this is the best combination and gives you the best chance to climb the PVP ranks. However, we personally believe that the Bird, Beast and Plant (BBP) combination is the most consistent combination to play PVE and PVP with.
Why BBP?
Birds are your damage dealers. A common card combination is Dark Swoop with 3 other attacks to “Snipe” the fastest enemy target. This could be an Aqua (second fastest Axie behind the Bird) or a bird on the enemy team. Sniping is an extremely effective strategy against other BBP and even ABP combinations.
Beasts fill your strong support role. With cards like Single Combat and Double Nutcracker card combo, these can take out tanks in one play if your cards are played right.
Plants fill the tank role of the team. Their ability to absorb massive attacks with cards like Pumpkin are the reason it’s an essential on any team.
Remember: Having the “best team” still depends on how you strategically play your cards.
