We all know the story of the ant and the grasshopper since we were kids. This fable is very popular among children for it is use as bedtime story. And we have learnt it from school.
To summarize the story,
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up suppkies for the rainy season. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs. He just dance and sing and plays all summer long. When rainy season comes, the ant have enough food and shelter while the grasshopper starved and in cold.
At some point of our lives, we were just like the grasshopper. Just living the life without thinking the future. Spend so much money for the things that is unnecessary. "Ubos ubos biyaya, bukas nakatunganga", was the famous line of my late lola. I often got scolded by her because i used to spend all my allowance and not saving up some money. But things changed, now that i'm a mother and a housewife,i make sure to save up money. I also learn to prioritize our needs over luxurious things.
Let us all be like ant, very eager in storing food for the future. Let us learn to prioritize our needs, things that is necessary and save up some money for emergencies and for our future.
