"Sabay kami" (We will go with you) were the words we (me and Jacob) are telling a friend (Angelica) while we are having our coffee last Friday (August 27). That moment we checked our schedules and found out we are both available for a couple of days then immediately planned for the travel. "Galang-gala lang" (our feets are itching for a travel.., wanted to travel the soonest possible).
From Saturday to Sunday we already started talking about the possible trip. But there was no itinerary/ plan on where to roam around until when and the like. We just wanted to go on a trip without any plan. Hence, when Angelica informed us that her older brother is going to fetch her, we rushed our decision if we're going to go with them or not. Practicality sake, we joined them that made us quickly pack our things and met them.
Evening of Sunday at exactly 9:45 pm we left Baguio and reached Quezon, Nueva Ecija almost 2 in the morning. It was not a smooth travel just like before because of the checkpoints along the way.
Perks of having friends outside the city
We didn't spend any peso for our accommodation and transportation (except for going home) since we slept at a friends house. Our first night was spent at Quezon while the second night was spent at Talavera. Different municipalities that are far from each other. Was thankful for our friends and their families who accomodated us warmly. They also ferried us going to and from different places and ensured our stomachs are full. Their hospitality is worth commending which made me realize I don’t know how to take care of visitors.
Was it worth it?
Definitely, it was a worth it travel despite of the long rides. Yes long rides from Baguio to Nueva Ecija and going around different municipalities/ city. Though because of the distance of their tourist spots and limited time, just went around where we can go 😊. Aside from the road trips, the sharing of stories and laughter made it more exciting. Including the guidance of God in every step of the way.
Where to go in Ecija?
There are a lot of nature trips at the different municipalities such as Minalungao National Park, Pantabangan Dam, Mt. Sawi, Tanawan and the like. It's better to plan ahead of time where to go not to waste time deciding and waiting. But being simultaneous is still fun though 🙃.
- not a writer nor a blogger just a life wanderer who wanted to share travels, experiences, and learnings 😘
- hope you can join me wandering next time 😉
You're the second that I have read about Nueva Ecija. Last night I believed it was Pichi28's article that I read about Minalungao. I have to go there after this pandemic. 🙂 I am still afraid to go out during this time even for a road trip. I do not want to risk my health as well as my parents. I am only limited to certain places just outside our subdivision (supermarket, banks, drug stores). But glad that you are all safe and have enjoyed the trip.
