Some say TV shows represent what people want to see because ratings play such a big part in advertising revenue. I would venture to say that is a lie. Advertisers don't dictate programming shown on TV series. The content is dictated by the owners of those companies and their overall vision, their 'context' is what we watch on our "favorite" tv shows. These shows we watch because no one else makes TV like they can with the resources and man power they have. If you're wondering why Netflix has a bloody, violent tv show - don't think "oh its what americans want" rather, "this is what the elite have chosen for the people to consume". Netflix like all tv stations are NOT Decentralized Autonomous Organizations. Their decisions aren't on the blockchain and until they are, these capsules of entertainment reality (faux reality of their context and a heavy, subtext-driven narrative) will remain the skeleton bones of the few, the 'behind the curtains' puppeteers of the US entertainment industry.
