Staking cryptocurrencies can almost be treated as a safe especially to those of us particularly prone to selling in the short term. For example, even without any obvious benefits to staking, some games like Alien Worlds allow for staking on planets. The same is done with Dust, people can stake to a telegram chat that support Dust mining. The reward? None so far, but why do it? Because it keeps the money out of your hands, so you don't swap it for $10 when it may be worth $1000 in a few months! Pretty interesting logic arising out of a number of blockchain games. Staking = kind of a seperate wallet you don't touch :) , at least in practice.
