In one of the latest seasons of Family Guy, Peter Griffin off-handedly says the US will be over in 5 years. This off hand humor is not so funny considering the mire we are in from a standpoint of debt nationally, collapse of law and order in many states and a general brother against brother atmosphere in US politics. Rome was a civilization that survived about 1000 years or so. The US was established around 1776 and is quite young, yet we live in vastly different times: we have AI, drones, pandemics, massive wild fires and billions of people while back then it was - in some ways - a 'small world'.
