Here's how it might work: BTC and stables ==> Ethereum volumes and nft markets ==> L2s When BTC and stables stumble and fall, Eth falls, nft markets stall, sales collapse, finally L2's, prominent ones, have no reason to exist without a thriving nft market, so they are squishy, fall worse than the former two.
