Twitter sponsoring this article shows how closely aligned they are with Reuters Foundation, which aids in curating news opinion for major, powerful institutions like Exxon and other mega conglomerates. The reason Bitcoin is so bad for the environment? Because they say so! This is not forward-view to automatic decrease in power usage from 1) technological breakthrough - GPU, CPU, APU 2) technological breakthrough in Quantum Computing 3) software advances and other innovations in blockchain protocol. But foremost, their bias is showing 2x fold because 1) they are partakers in the worst polluting industries known to man - gas, coal, many other mineral industries (Reuters' funding here for this PR piece) 2) the cost of mining Bitcoin and other crypto cannot in any sense be compared to archaic industries dependent on fuel, transport, port authorities and so forth. Do you see anyone moving giant containers? How about fuel used by giant container ships to carry their polluting cargo to the US from other countries (right when US has its own oil reserves and pipelines!). These are the companies that are funding "Bitcoin is bad no good, super bad, super evil polluting the whole world" messages in media today. The banks are attached at the hip, media to them, and the whole monstrosity of hypocrisy rages.
