BOOKS ABOUT WORLD WAR II ADAPTED TO FILM If you are interested in watching World War 2 movies that were adapted from books, I can recommend 2 films. All books were written by best-selling author Jack Higgins. That's his pen name. His real name is Henry "Harry" Patterson (1929 – 2022). He just passed away recently at the age of 92. (https://www.theguardian.com/books/2022/apr/10/jack-higgins-obituary) His novel, “The Eagle Has Landed”, was published in 1975 and made into a movie in 1976. It starred a few of my favorite actors: Michael Caine, Robert Duvall, and Donald Sutherland disguised as Polish airmen. It was a plot to kidnap Sir Winston Churchill. His novel, “Night of the Fox”, was published in 1986, and made into a movie in 1990. It starred two of my favorite actors, George Peppard (as American officer, Col. Harry Martineau) and Michael York (as high-ranking German officer, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, the “Desert Fox”). NOTE: Higgins wrote a sequel to “The Eagle Has Landed” which is titled “The Eagle Has Flown”, published in 1991. It was not adapted to film, but fans of novels by Higgins consider it worthwhile reading. #books #movies #entertainment
