Gramvousa is a small sub-island of Amorgos with no inhabitants. It has 2 really breath-taking, sandy, beaches with astonishing crystal-clear waters. They are, for sure, a MUST SEE!
There are also many small paths that lead to other (mainly rocky) places where you are able to enter the sea and enjoy, all day long, your own 'private' beach. Mmm, feels like Onassis.
Be sure to be back in time to take the (last) taxi-boat back as the weather, after the sun sets, can become very harsh: the south wind will kick in and the temperatures will drop tremendously!
This small island is reached by a taxi-boat that you take from the beach of Kalotaritissa. The boats leave every hour between 11:00 and 19:00 and cost you only 5 euros.
If you come early in the morning, you could ask a local fisherman (in return of a small tip) to take you there.
(You can also take a taxi-boat from Katapola but we haven't tried that, so I can't give you more information about this).
The beaches here are for 'real nature' lovers so be aware that there is, except for some umbrellas and sunbeds, NO accommodation at all!
If there is anything you might need (drink, food) make sure you take it all with you! Also, if you are sensitive to the sun, take a lot of sun cream and an umbrella as there are no trees for shade.
Because of the shallow waters, the beaches are extremely suitable for families with smaller children. They will love it here because they will quickly make new friends (there are only a few people here).
On the left side of the main beach, there is a small church devoted to the Virgin Mary.
