This is another article about a documentary I have watched, once again, that I wanted to share with everyone. This is a documentary about a certain ingredient of a make-up product and where it usually coming from. I am talking about Mica, as the main ingredient of some make-up products.
This documentary has a title in Youtube, “The Dark Secret Behind Your Favorite Make-up Products”. As the documentarian mentioned, there is this particular ingredient in most make-up products called Mica, which is like a mineral or something that are being mined.
This Mica is found in India. The documentarian then went to this specific city in India where mining of Mica is prominent and she saw the sad truth about it. She saw children working in the mining site. They are told that they should finish an interview because the people in charged in that mining site doesn’t want any visitors which is maybe because they know that child labor is illegal.
The documentarian talked to a girl and asked her why is she working on the site, and she answered they needed to eat. If she won’t work or mine, she cannot take home food and put it on their table. She is just 11 years old. How come an 11-year-old girl needs to think on how to put foods on their table? That is a sad reality broke my heart. Some are just 8 years old. And seems like they look at it like it’s normal for them to do that at a young age.
The documentarian also interviewed a family, which their daughter was badly hurt when mining and worst scenario is they lost their other daughter because of the accident in the site too. And then the documentarian asked if they stopped mining, they said no because it is the only work they can have in their place to survive. They have to take the risks of being in there and the risk of it to their children. Minutes after the interview, the staff and the documentarian had to go since the people in charge in the site are on their way because they heard that they were there interviewing children.
Yes, the ingredient Mica found in some make-up products is being mined by children. And nobody knew about it, plus the law that should protect them and the people that should make it possible looks like acting blind. A government official was interviewed and he said that they are not aware of this site that have child laborers. He said that the government is doing their part in protecting their children, but why are their so many articles pointing out the increasing number of child labor in India. It looks like the government is not doing enough to protect these children.
Children should be protected. There should be no barrier that goes between their rights and how they needed to be protected, even poverty. We should work together. Governments should look on this issue as a serious matter and do their job as protectors and leaders of their community.

They are just a child but they have to think on what to eat on their table. Parents should be the doing that right. Whare is their parent, wht they are allowing their kids to do it. This is really sad, they should be enjoying their childhood, now like that their are the one solving the family problems.
