DO YOU STRUGGLE WITH LOVING YOURSELF ? . During one of my quiet evenings while the boys were already tucked in their beds I was having a conversation that led to a question that asked “Do you love yourself” *Coquis* filled the room as I was struck by the harsh reality that in all honesty I didn’t feel as though I loved myself. I thought I did.And I’m not talking about selfish love that only seeks self love with earthly things. I’m talking about a love that comes from knowing that we are deeply loved by God because of the sacrifice of His Son on the cross. The blood that was shed on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. The blood that washes us white as snow. The blood that sets us free. But, like I was saying clearly my choosing of words, snappy responses and lack of love towards others weren’t reflecting that. I was stressed, tired, cranky, all the works. And every time I would look at myself in the mirror I would literally think of myself as that snappy, cranky, stressed out mom running on 4 hours of sleep while chasing two toddlers and nursing a 3 week old around the house. I was focusing on myself and letting my own shortcomings and others opinions of me define who I was instead of being completely defined by the Father’s love for me which is not based on how well I act or perform during that day but defined as a daughter of the Most High King a Father that loves me unconditionally, full of grace, mercy, forgiveness, patience, and love. Of course this doesn’t mean to remain in disobedience but when you are aware of these attitudes and patterns the Holy Spirit invites us to repent and choose The Way. When I fall short of the glory of God I should let the Father’s love define me, not my failures or what others say of me. Iam not perfect I am a work in progress and I fully believe with all my heart that HE that began a good work in me will finish it out until the day of Christ Jesus. I’m learning and growing every day and so are you sister.💓 “Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets" Matthew 22:37-40
