El Salvador's plan to power Bitcoin by volcano 'will end in environmental disaster' warns country's leading ecologist Ricardo Navarro who slammed the plan to power a new Bitcoin city with geothermal energy. "Geothermal still costs more than oil, otherwise we would already be using more of it. What will end up happening is that we will just be buying more oil," warned Navarro. It's good to hear (and read) there are other rational voices besides hype El Salvador's Govt is trying to create. more info >>> https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2021/12/06/el-salvadors-plan-power-bitcoin-volcano-will-end-environmental/ #cryptonews #salvador #bitcoin #BTC #crypto #noisecash

Hope it's ot a paid voice but I love outspoken people
right
Thats interesting, I would have thought the initial cost to build piping and facilities would have been the main cost, but just like with Solar there is always hidden costs whether financial or through mining materials.
It would still be more expensive to get energy from geothermal than from oil and the county is already scarce with energy so I think Bitcoin City is more like populist rhetoric than a real thing.
I don't know much about geothermal energy other than it is energy taken from the heat of the volcano in some way, I would image its a very dangerous undertaking, Thanks for the feedback
