"We as believers of Jesus Christ who claims that we know Him must be evident by obeying His commandments" 1 John 2:4 "He who says, "I know Him", and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him" - To identify a true believer of Christ and to identify a true christian who knows God, they are the ones who keep God's commandments, he who obeys. Anyone can claim that they know God but in the context of keeping His commandments are we doing it? The Apostle John clearly says here that those people who claim that they know God but does not keep His commandments, he considers it a liar and the truth is not in him. A liar will claim he knows God but fail to keep God's commandments. Those who claim that they know God must have the evidence of obeying God's commandments. You cannot say "I know Him" and "I love Him" and at the same time you cannot even love your brother, or your neighbor, he is considered as liar. David Guzik: "A simple, loving obedience is a natural result of fellowship with God." Many people can say they know God but in their actions speaks that they are not rwlly walking with God. We as Christians have this tendency to commit sin, but we also have the responsibility to choose right actions over wrong actions. The word "keep" in GK is tereo (To keep, to guard, heed, preserved, observe) We must keep God's word, take heed and to obey it.
