What went wrong?

A fictional story:

After years of being in the background, side kick and greatest supporter, Thelma now decided to give it a shot and auditioned for a lead role. She has this sweet yet strong personality, a very pleasing that even the camera could not resist. She got the lead role of her dream and the director said the role is made for her! She immediately called her friend, Vina, and told her about the good news. But as soon as Vina heard the news, she screamed and shouted at her over the phone telling her that she should not accept the role because that's her dream role and then hung-up.

Thelma was surprised to what she had just heard. She thought, she would cheer and congratulate her because she is her bestfriend. Not just a bestfriend but a sister. She and Vina have been together since elementary days. They are classmates from Kinder to high school and just separated ways when they entered college. Thelma did not finish college because she entered show business while she pursue for her diploma and graduated as a fashion designer and Thelma is her doll. Their mothers are bestfriend and so are they.

Thelma loves being in the highlight, the winner, the apple of the eye. Vina is also an achiever in her own way. she has various awards in her own field but not as famous as Thelma. Although she is not envy, she is also open for the opportunity in show business as most of their friends are inviting her to try it also. Not because of Thelma but because they see her potential.

She was hurt and immediately went to Thelma's house to confront her about her reaction. Luckily, Thelma was there. But Thelma looks furious and the assistant said she had been throwing things after she received her call. So she insisted to have a moment with her. She was seeing a different Thelma that she knows, far from the bestfriend that she loves and adores. Thelma said, if you will continue with that role, forget that I am your friend and then she turned her back on her.

Vina could not understand what was happening but then the director called and asked her to report for the contract signing. She left Thelma and told herself to deal with her after. Things gone by so fast and in just a matter of 3 months, the film was already finished and will be showing 2 months after. She was so busy and excited at the same time that she was not able to contact Thelma.

Here comes the premiere night, she and her leading man were busy with all the interviews, practicing their spiels and more. On their way to the cinema, she was looking for someone, the one she invited to be her special guest on that special moment aside from her family. But maybe she is busy, she consoled herself. The movie was a big hit, she received good reviews, line-ups of interviews, guesting, more movies.

When finally she got a break, a much needed me time after her super hectic schedules. She called Thelma but she was not picking up. She even left a message but never replied. She could not understand but as much as she wanted to celebrate, she felt sad wondering what went wrong.

Sometimes, even the closest person in our life is not our best supporter but our greatest critic and detractors. Maybe they are just being protective but sometimes it just feels too much that their way of reasoning is no longer acceptable. It feels like they don't want you to succeed and find your own fate. But remember, no matter how many people will try to hinder, dishearten and block your way, just continue. Chase your passion and reach for your dreams because at the end of the day, it's you who will work for it not them. It's your own journey, not theirs. They can share with your happiness, your fears and sorrows but all the hard works are in your hands.
