Pointing!

Pointing other people is always a great excuse that everyone uses. May it be in doing something for them, relaying tasks instead of just doing it themselves, or pointing an innocent person to take their burden. And why does pointing out the good, giving credits to the rightful person is hard and heavy?

I am talking about this subject with an exclamation point because there was an incident few days back here in our barangay. Some fishermen got stranded in the middle of the ocean due to an engine trouble and were rescued and immediately attended by the staff of Kusina Ni Camila. A staff went to the barangay hall to seek help but for some reason no one was there. So he went back to Kusina and they just did what they can do to save the poor fishermen. While trying their best to rescue them, the SK chairman who happens to be working at Kusina called for help in the mayor's office who immediately responded. The fishermen have been safely turned-over to their town and their family.

At night, we saw a post circulating in the social media from the SK page about what had happened. Thanking the private individuals who responded, assisted and even gave food for the survivors.

The next morning, the SK chairman told us that he has been scolded by the barangay captain because they were not mentioned in the said post! Why oh why do they want to take credits when they were nowhere to be found during the whole incident!

Another incident happened the other day. Some youngsters from neighboring barangay went to the beach here in our place. They already set-up their tents, tables and food and some have been digging some sand and putting stones under. A neighbor who happens to be eating in Kusina noticed it and approach the group. He told them that they should not dig there because it might cause accident especially there were a lot of ATVs that are operating. But one of the youngsters was too proud of himself and even told one of his friend to take a video of our concerned neighbor. That makes him mad because they are just visitors but they acting arrogantly and even mentioned that he was working under this office and this neighbor of ours cannot allow that.

Then after a while we saw the friend of our neighbor trying to pacify him. Some of them even apologized to the youngsters what had happened and they left peacefully. However, the next morning we were shocked when we heard the news that the office of the mayor has been trying to locate and investigate the whereabouts of our neighbor. It is said that someone reported him and told them that he was armed with a gun when he was talking to them. In fact he was just holding a t-shirt that was given to him by his friend.

The mayor's office called our barangay captain to report to his office. Without investigating, the captain went there with zero knowledge about the incident. She just called some officers to investigate when she was already in front of the mayor.

With all that is happening around the world, why do people choose the one that could hurt other people. Why do they always choose to protect their names or ego rather than stand for the truth? It just sad to know that people like this exists. That they roam around, spreading faster than the virus and that is more scary.

Why can they not choose to love, to be compassionate, to be humble and kind and stop pointing the worst!

We need to lift each other, we need to guide each other, we need to support each other because that is more pleasing, that is more humane thing to do, and that is what the world needs now.
