Aling Norma

Every afternoon, I sell afternoon snacks in front of my sister's store and there I became close to one of our aunt and let's call her Aling Norma. She was not that close relative but she has this aura of a kind, patient, caring and loving mother. And I was so fascinated with her stories and it goes like this.

Aling Norma is the 5th of the 6 all girls siblings. She did not grew with her family because her uncle told her parents that he will take care of her since they don't have a child yet at that time. Few years after they got her, the couple have their first born, a boy and let's call him Noel. They grow up to be like real brothers and sisters. However, when both of them were on the right age, Noel got jealous of the attention that Aling Norma has been receiving from their parents. He told Aling Norma that she don't have any right in their house and in their property. That's when the time Aling Norma decided to go back to her real family.

Her parents welcomed her with open arms. She was treated special as if she was lost and then found daughter. Her parents were making up for the long lost time which made her siblings felt jealous also. They never grew up together really as siblings, it's like Aling Norma was an outsider of her real family. Her sisters never treated her right, they thought of her as a competitor of love, attention and of their properties. Aling Norma endured all these because she know her rights.

Aling Norma got married early. She was the first to settle down of the 6 siblings. Just after she graduated from college, she decided to live together with her boyfriend but her parents did not allow that to happen and they gave them their blessings to get married. They built a house just beside their family house. It was a gift given by Aling Norma's parents. They were blessed with 8 children, 7 boys and 1 girl.

Aling Norma had been praying that her sisters will change and finally treat her well, but they never changed. Even her kids feel how unwelcome their mother was being treated. Good thing their grandparents were the kindest and they never felt that way with them. They were the most loving grannies.

She and her husband worked together to provide everything for their children without asking for support. They strived hard until all their kids graduated from college and they succeeded. Their kids already have their own career, building their names on their own field. Three (3) of her kids luckily went abroad; in New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and in the US. When her son in New Zealand was expecting to have a baby, she sponsored her Aling Norma so she could go and assist her wife in taking care of their baby.

She never expected that thing to happen, that she would ever ride a plane. But back in the days, when she's still a young child, she would always look up for the airplanes above and she would wonder how such a small thing can carry a lot of people, how they manage to drive it in the air and how does it feel to ride in an airplane. Then she vividly remembered a dream she once had; she get off from the plane and she saw someone waving her name then all of the people in that place were wearing black. And when it waz her first time to land in New Zealand, she saw her son waving her name at the airport and then all of the staff on that airport was wearing black. She would always smile when she recalls that moment.

As a gift to their parents, Aling Norma's kids bought a lot and built a house for them. Away from that house that they grew up with. Until now, her sisters are not that close to her. When there are events like birthdays, they would not invite her or any of her family. But they learned to accept it and they got used to it. She just told and remind her kids to not be like them.

Aling Norma said that God sees all her/their pain and He rewarded her and her family with so much blessings that they've never asked for. She made sure that all her kids grew up together, and that they will be loving, caring and free from jealousy and greediness. Aling Norma is in a happy state and she is so contented with what is happening with her family.

I admire Aling Norma's strength, determination and faith. She overcome all the challenges in her life with grace and she succeeded in keeping her own family intact. Her kids love each other, no competition, no jealousy. And guess what, I think I gained her trust because she shared a secret to me😁.

All the pain, hardship, sacrifices that we are going through right now are just preparation of something big that soon will arrive in our life. So don't worry my friend, God sees all these and He will definitely reward us more that we have ever hoped for.
