A virtual journey ! My dear virtual friends, the advertisement and the slogan caught my attention: "This year we learned that everything can stop, but the Internet must not." We are in a very difficult period. Covid hit the whole world. Many things have been denied to us .... This slogan gave me the idea to take you on a virtual journey. Get to know my country. I will be your virtual guide. Serbia is my country. It is located in the hilly Balkans. Everyone who wants to get to know my country, in addition to enjoying the natural beauties, should not miss the opportunity to get to know cities all over Serbia. Belgrade is the capital city.
There are many interesting places to see in Belgrade. I will single out just a few. Kalemegdan Fortress has been a symbol of Belgrade for centuries. According to historical data, the first fortification on this place was built in the 1st century. Precisely because of that, this fortress is a monument and a witness to all the events that befell Belgrade, and as it is in a strategically important place, it has witnessed many events. Located at the confluence of the Sava and the Danube, the Kalemegdan Fortress has defied time for centuries. Walking through the fortress and the park, visitors can see the remains from different epochs: from Roman, Turkish, to the present day. That is why history lovers should spend at least one whole day getting to know Kalemegdan.
If you want to feel the spirit of old Belgrade, eat a traditional Serbian dish and try homemade wine and brandy while the tamburitza players play your favorite song, don't miss Skadarlija. Another symbol of Belgrade is certainly the temple of Saint Sava. And regardless of religion, you should definitely visit this shrine. First of all, this is the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans, which was built on the site where the relics of the first Serbian educator, Saint Sava, were burned.
Since not all the beauties of my country can fit into one post, I decided to present my country and virtual journey to you in a few stories. My dear friends I hope you enjoyed this virtual trip and that I was a good tour guide.
