Jon Jones’ frustration has not subsided as he continued to wonder why Dana White suggested he did not want to fight new heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

‘The Predator’ dethroned Stipe Miocic on Saturday night in Las Vegas with a frightening two round beat down to knock him out and claim the belt at UFC 260.

Ngannou is the new UFC heavyweight champion and is open to facing Jon Jones next

After four first round-finishes, Ngannou looked more composed and as complete a mixed martial artist we are likely to see with a clinical display which encompassed leg kicks and expert wrestling.

The Cameroonian seemed set to welcome former light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones to the division following his move up to heavyweight, yet it seems as though UFC boss White has other plans after jokingly suggesting ‘Bones’ should actually go down to 185lbs.

“Oh, Derrick Lewis is the fight to make,” he said at the post-fight press conference. “But if Jon Jones really wants that fight…

“Listen, it is one thing to go out and tweet and say you want it and that I put on the weight and this and that. Do you want the fight?

Ngannou knocked out Miocic at UFC 260 in what was a rematch of their previous battle in 2018

“I promise you, we can call Derrick Lewis or one of these other heavyweights and they want the fight.

“If Jon Jones really wants the fight, Jon Jones knows he can get the fight. All he’s got to do is call and do it.”

Having not fought since a razor-thin decision victory over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247, the 33-year-old Jones is eager to get back into the octagon.

Yet he has not taken the comments by White positively at all, to say the very least.

UFC president White suggested Jones may have to wait behind Lewis

“Go to 185? I didn’t gain all this weight for no reason,” he wrote on Twitter.

“If anyone is wondering if I really want to fight, the answer is yes. I also really want to get paid.

“I quit the light heavyweight division, literally gained a massive amount of weight. And now people are saying I’m afraid? “Everyone but me claiming that I’m afraid. All I asked was to get paid.

“Why does a fighter have to be afraid the second he mentions he wants to get paid his worth. What an insult.

Jon Jones absorbed more punishment against Dominick Reyes than he could have possibly foreseen

“Conor McGregor wants big money, it’s expected. Jon Jones wants money, now he’s scared.

“I’ve been working my butt off, gained all this weight. Have never lost a fight before. Now all of a sudden I am scared. What bulls***.”

Ngannou, though, is ready to fight any one of Lewis or Jones and even a third time with Miocic.

However, Jones continued tweeting through Sunday and called White’s tactics a ‘huge slap in the face’ as he questioned whether he was respected enough by the promotion.

Jones, though, remains hopeful something can be worked out after a string of tweets on Saturday through Sunday
