During the execution of the rehabilitation works to convert the old Born market into the Provincial Library of Barcelona in 2002, archaeological remains of the old medieval city appeared, demolished after the war of the Spanish succession. Given the good state of conservation of the ruins and after years of archaeological excavation, between the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona City Council, they decided to change the project the initial project and turn the new space into a cultural center, in which they remain visible the remains of that ancient city.
