Crypto issues have complicated the human lifestyle. One of the causes of this problem began when Gozali, an Indonesian citizen, sold NFT from the collection of Selfi photos he had stored since 2017 until now.

The Gozali effect makes people in Indonesia think that simple photos can be sold for a lot of dollars on the NFT exchange. Is earning from NFT that easy? I don't think it's like that, Gozali is one of the few people who benefit from small opportunities.

Are you going to sell selfies to earn like Gozali? You can do that, but there's no guarantee you'll receive as much as Gozali did. Therefore, the problems that arise due to the Gozali effect outweigh the benefits of NFT.

All Problems Due to Selling Confidential Personal Data

In Indonesia, there is an administration that requires us to take selfies with a clear face and include a citizenship card complete with the secret number of the card.

In fact, the citizenship card includes confidential data that should not be distributed by the owner. Because the card can be misused by others. Even so, the administration here requires us to send selfies with strange conditions.

This type of photo is used for purposes of registering as a candidate for a state civil servant who will work in a government institution. Or, the purpose of taking a selfie with the citizenship card is to take care of the administration of a money loan to the bank.

Other administrations such as registering with a particular company. So that the government or company knows that the face and identity card match the data that we fill in the administration form. There is always a statement that we are not allowed to distribute selfie photos along with the identity card.

I don't know the beginning of the stupidity of some people from my country. Due to the Gozali effect, they send and sell selfies with very clear citizenship cards to the NFT market. In fact, the photo can be taken and used for crime by the buyer. Because the data on the card can be registered with the administration for financial crimes by the buyer.

What It is of Sex Artwork

From several aspects, there is a prohibition on selling oneself, especially the problem of paid sex services. Although we see there are different views on social media regarding this issue, such as the promotion of sex services on Twitter.

On certain occasions, photos, gifts, videos or links related to pornography are restricted by certain country policies or regulations. Moreover, in this country, we are not allowed to distribute pornographic content belonging to others. That can be a legal issue because other people may not necessarily know about the distribution of the content.

I don't know the intentions of some of the NFT sales application users from our country. They sell sex content and services in the form of NFT. Do they know the problems that will arise from selling the sex content?

There is indeed content with the adult category that is sold as a form of NFT. But, it is a work of digital art. Not pornographic content that does not pay attention to the side of the artwork. This is different, digital art is not the same as promiscuity. Although there are similarities, there are differences between the two.

You can sell art that shows yourself completely without any clothes on. That's your right and in accordance with the rules that apply in your country. However, no one is as stupid as some of the users who sell pornographic content on NFT without the consent of the person within the content.

Another problem, if the content is sold, you will be dealing with people who feel disadvantaged because they are forced to sell in the NFT market. Furthermore, you will receive a sentence from the court if we are proven to use other people's work in the free market. Another legal problem, here it is not allowed to trade sex services including sex content.

It's Not Artwork

Several other types of photos that are sold because they do not know the work of art invite debate in Indonesia, such as on Instagram. The photo is not a work of art, but a photo of the food it is not clear what it is being sold for.

I will give an example, is the photo of fried banana, one of the snacks in Indonesia, a work of art? The answer is yes or no, the choice comes from how content creators take pictures.

If you sell a photo of one fried banana, without any other instrument that makes the photo very simple. So, the seller and the buyer of the photo are equally stupid. Only fools buy photos of fried bananas.

This is different if the fried bananas come from digital works, or how the concept of photography beautifies the appearance of the fried banana photos. This is different from the initial explanation. There is a side of art as a benchmark for understanding whether an image is an NFT or not.

However, all this time we are spreading photos, images and videos as content across social media. The goal is to get followers and customers on these social media. The more customers there are, the more potential income that comes from promoting a particular product.

Since NFT was born, photos and videos can make money and make us famous, case study of the Gozali effect. So that we are free to sell personal photos. I also do the same thing, like create content on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

This article is just a forum opener for discussion. I don't know if other parts of the world can explain that personal data as NFT which is free for buyers to use after getting the photo. Or does your country allow the sale of sex services freely without any legal provisions? Or are junk photos included in digital artwork?

That question will open up the space to discover the differences between digital artwork and other content. I'm not forbidding others to find the most creative way. I only have a different opinion that NFT is not a sex service, because here (Indonesia), you are not allowed to sell yourself to the public even though it is your job.
