I remember Don Bluth announcing a Dragon's Lair movie a long time ago. I was disappointed to learn he merely crowdfunded for a short, cheaply made animated short to show off to investors. I'm 100% sure he didn't advertise it as such. I don't know about "recently", but there was indeed a period where most let's-players picked it up in response to the HD release. But that has to be a few years ago now.

Nevertheless, you should know Dragon's Lair? It was an arcade video game animated by Don Bluth, the guy who made All Dog's Go To Heaven. It was quite the eye-catcher when it came out.
