A few days ago I saw two farmers on the side of the road covering their paddy seedbed with polythene. Although I did not have enough idea about this before. So I asked them why they were doing it. I thought maybe the seedlings would die for it. But from the information I received from them, I came to know the real reason for doing this. And that gave me new ideas. It was part of the greenhouse process. As many of us know, crops are grown in glass houses in extreme cold regions to protect crops from the effects of winter. Excessive winters affect crop growth. In fact, the farmers here have adopted almost the same method. Currently, the intensity of winter has increased here and at the same time the fog has also increased. And that's why the small seedlings being destroyed. This is why farmers are covering their paddy seedbeds for few days and when these seedlings will have enough roots and at the same time protect themselves from the effects of cold and fog. Only then will the farmers remove these polythene bags.
