Undoubtedly it is a very good and joyful day for us. Today, one of the mega projects in our country has been inaugurated by our honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. That is the Padma Multipurpose Bridge and it is currently the largest bridge in our country, which has been built over the river Padma, one of the most important rivers in our country. And this bridge has facilitated easy and direct communication of 21 cities in the southwestern region of our country with the capital. The bridge cost about $3.6 billion to build and was fully funded by the Bangladesh government. However, as a small country and a small economy, it was very challenging for Bangladesh, on the other hand, the Padma is one of the fastest flowing and terrible rivers in Bangladesh. As a result, building bridges was a difficult task.
