“When the pain of staying to where we are is greater than the pain of growth, I think, it’s time for change.”
Title: Breakdown are Breakthroughs
Published Date: September 27, 2021
They happen when the cracks in ourselves expose the need for something new to emerge. We suffer when we try so hard to stay in an outdated version of something that is no longer apt to embrace the new environment around us. Change is necessary on our life’s cycle. We can’t just stayed into one phase of our life whenever we wanted too. Looking back in the past is good, but never stayed in there. We are supposed to move forward, to let go.
For example, whenever we try to keep ourselves clinging unto our past self, we tend to get feel nostalgic, and we want to stay for awhile, or sometimes longer, but we just can’t, and then we breakdown while tripping down on some of our memories, knowing that we can never take back any of it. Like missing our old self, missing someone special, missing a certain events and the like. But after that, after an hour of reminiscing the past and all, after crying a bucket, we felt calm afterwards. It’s like some heavy things are pulled out on our chest.
Another example is, when we thought of our past mistakes and failures. Suddenly, we tell ourselves that we could’ve done better. And we want to change it, but we couldn’t of course. Our regrets started to visits us again like an old lover trying to snatch a little attention from ourselves. Don’t go down that road, there’s nothing good down there. Forgive yourself for the times you couldn’t keep it all together. You weren’t supposed to. We are not superhuman. Our mistakes and regrets teaches us lessons for us to improve our perspective in life as we continue our journey. It makes us wiser and stronger enough to keep going.
You are not weak for crying. We are just human at the edge of growth. Crying is actually one way of showing that we are strong, because we battled those hardships all on our own for so long, and finally, we’ve been able to have the courage to let it all out. It’s like breaking all the barriers that keeps on holding our emotional self to let it pour down for once. They say big girls/boys don’t cry, no, they do. They can. We can. If it’s will be the only way to make ourselves feel better, there is nothing wrong for doing it.
Remember when there are some sad and heartbreaking scene on a film that we were watching, we cried on that too, not because we want to, but our body pushes us to do so. So that we can pull out that thorn like feeling pierced on our throat. Our body has the power to act accordingly depending on the situation we are in. So don’t be too hard on yourself. Just let everything out whenever necessary. Pain is good in order for us to evolve. Crying is even better in order for us to feel good.
And again, if breaking down is necessary in order for us to break all the barriers that keeps on holding us back, then let’s do it! There’s nothing more satisfying than freeing ourselves from all the struggles we put ourselves into.
