It seems the hacking on social media giants are just getting hot and this cybercriminals are using them to promote fake Bitcoin giveaways, and maybe steal some data on those accounts, fun that this hackers aren't anymore creative as they use this "fake" rewards programs but actually they are becoming so repeatedly that their victims are more clever now, this hacking just earned from them less than 0,027 BTC.

On July 15, they hack activity they managed to steal almost $120,000 from more than 130 accounts compromised, but only 45 they truly controlled and used them to spread fake Bitcoin giveaways, with a promise to double the assets sent to their accounts. In Twitter the hackers could have at same time managed to control over high profiles accounts such Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Jeff Bezos, Joe Biden and many more prominent figures.

The one thing that is crazy to me, is the passivity that neither Twitter or YouTube allowed this breach on their security. Twitter got that and managed to control, as the staff claim, but YouTube have been spreading fake Bitcoins giveaways for months now and all those fake "rewards" program are using figures from Elon Musk, Bill Gates or the Co-founder of Apple Steve Wozniak who sued the company for their continuous allowance to expand those scams.

The recent YouTube channel compromised it's an Indian popular one, with more than 6,7 million subscribers of carryminati who got another one of 24 million subscribers. The hacking happened on July 24, 2020 and the owner reported it to YouTube India who took necessary steps to contour the situation and the criminals didn't managed to stole more than $300 worth on Bitcoin.

The report on twitter by carryminati the owner.

The fake giveaway promoted on the page hacked by cybercriminals.

This is a clear failure on the security by this two companies and if that still continues more they lose trust from users, and that trust after get lost will be difficult to regain. This high profile who got their privacy violated are on cooperation with authorities such FBI to discover what really happened.

The ones who got the bitcoins stolen, barely will participate in such programs anymore and many will run away from adoption of Crypto believing that is a currency used by criminals, that isn't true as this hackers could also bet in fiat, but this currency have a larger control by government authorities difficult to transact, it's a question of opportunity and speed.

Crypto is the future, and this fraudsters use it to burn this image but they won't win this war.

Youtube seems to have so many problems that it can't handle. But all of the other platforms have horrible problems with lag and besides twitch which is just for streaming the rest are not offering the same experience. It is bad for the internet to see only one company dominating every field.

It's needed more powerful platforms to dethrone YouTube (I prefer Decentralized ones) that are consistent and work for the people not just to a bunch of people centralizing everything in their sake

People are easy to lure mostly because they still think believing that somehow they could make money in a click on internet, and scammers know that and take advantage of that stealing they assets with those scams giveaways.
