Province of our National Hero

Calamba is one of the most prosperous cities in the province of Laguna. It is one of the centers of trade in Southern Central. Located 54 kilometers south of Manila and surrounded by the towns of Cabuyao, and Los Baños in Laguna, Tagaytay in Cavite, and the towns of Tanauan and Sto. Tomas in Batangas. According to legend, two Spanish soldiers saw a woman coming out of the river carrying a jar full of water. The soldiers asked in their language to ask what place they had gone. The woman answered the question in her language and said "stove jar" which means stove and jar (jar stone). Later, it was also called "Calamba" and is here the largest jar in the world.

Calamba is the town where our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Currently, his home is one of the most historic places in the Philippines and is visited by tourists. Their house is made of stone where they are described as being among Filipino illustrators or wealthy people. It is also surrounded by plants and trees. It was repeated by President Elpidio Quirino during his administration in recognition of Rizal as a national hero.

Plaza Rizal is located opposite the city hall, where Rizal's largest statue can be found in the Philippines. From the stairs to the statue you can see Mount Makiling and the government house of Calamba.

My visit to the city of Calamba is reminiscent of our colorful history and the recognition of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Today, Calamba is one of the most prosperous cities in the Philippines due to its large number of malls, residential areas, factories and other buildings but it remains the place where our national hero originated.
