Who is your friend ?

There are various forms of friends, your lifestyle defines the kind of friends you keep and relationship with them. My elders do say this Proverbs “fi ore won mi ki so iru eniyan ti oje" meaning show me your friends and I will tell you who you are. What they meant by this is that your kind of friend’s will show your identity. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary a friend is defined as “ one attached to another by affection or esteem". This can be interpreted in so many ways, but I will look at it from angle of Esteem or Values. You can also be attached to some one by affection, family relations or exclusively for sexual values.

If you want to know how far you can go in life, then you have to choose the rightful kind of friends that would share and help your dreams. So many individuals have made there way to the top through help of a friend and some life’s have been wasted or setback, just because their friend betrayed them, set traps for them or exposed them to danger.

My Elders view about friends

This views are base on the words of my elders, I found them valuable and reasonable

·        Ore ti o ba duro tini ni ojo Isoro ni Ore gidi.

Same as this

·        Igba isoro lamo Ore toto

Translation

 a friend in needs is a friend indeed.

Sometimes it is difficult to know the true friend

Meanings

 they meant is you can only know a true whenever you are going through challenges or difficulties, they stand by you no what.

·        Ojulari Ore o denu or inu Ore jin Ojulari

Translation

you can only see your friends eyes, you don't know what's going on in the mind.

Meaning

That is friendships isn’t just by sight, but it goes deep down to the taught of your mind.

·        Ore logba ni Ore lo lani

Translation

Friends saves, friends make rich

Meaning

In difficulties friends do save, and friend can make one rich

·        Oni ku pani Ore

A friend that kills

Meaning

This kind of friends, is always after your downfall, they pretend to love you in your presence but at your back they condemn and even crucify you.

All this word from my elder are really value and described each kind of friends we have. Base on this write up I will only divide friend into 4 places...

1.       Friends with benefits

2.       Lover friend

3.       Bad friends

4.       True friends

Friends with benefits

This are friends you made base on what you want to get from them, or they made you there friend just because of what they are getting from you. The challenge with this form of friendships is once the benefits cease the friendship ends.

Lover friend

This is what is define as boyfriend and girlfriend this days.  The date each in the course of their friendship. Also can be base on a present terms or future I.e it might just be for sexual values at this point or beyond that point to the level of marriage, child bearing, companionship and some other achievements you can achieve along without having someone close to you that share the vision with you.

Bad Friends

I call them deadly friends they have this qualities the are destructive. Which are..

·        Envious

·        Jealous

·        Selfish

·        Accusing

·        Betrayal

True friends

The definition for this can be found in their qualifies. Which are

·        Friends that know your past, believe in your future, accept you for who you are today

·        They don’t form ally with your enemy because they aren’t your enemy

·        They don’t compete with you, happy when you moving forward

·        They take upon themselves everything about you.

·        They are protective

·        Correct you with love when you are wrong, not a selfish type, hook down when you’re down

·        They are full of compassion and empathy

·        Dedicated to your uplifting.

·        Trustworthy and reliable

 There are quite a lot more about True friend, always study well the characters of whoever you wanted to walk with as a friend. Because friends can kill and friends can save.
