Trust What is trust? How can we understand it? Is it an emotion or feeling? How does trust arise? What does it teach us about ourselves and the world around us? How can we best achieve trust in ourselves and in others? This are prominent questions we ask about trust. We cannot exist in a vacuum. We cannot live alone, nor can we live in a world of complete isolation. Likewise, we must therefore trust that others will behave a certain way, and be willing to act in kind. That is the only way we can conduct business, have families, and have any semblance of a normal everyday life. It is important to note that trust is ultimately about risk. Can you trust that the other party will not cheat? This question is difficult to answer before you actually work with someone. After you complete a few transactions, you get a better idea of what is expected, and whether or not it is possible to fulfill those expectations. In other words, you need to put some skin in the game first. When we do something for the first time in our lives, there is very little risk involved. We know that our very survival depends on making it through this ordeal. How to build trust in yourself - Think about how you were as a child. If your parents shouted at you, called you names or just neglected you, chances are they didn’t have a lot of trust in you. And that’s probably why you don’t have much self-trust as an adult. When children are brought up in an environment where they are yelled at or made to feel worthless, they learn not to trust themselves. They adopt the belief system that they are worthless, stupid, useless and unable to do anything right. They also learn that other people aren’t to be trusted either and as a result find it difficult to build trust with anyone. **Trust — what should you trust to secure your business?** After working years as a financial planner and early investor in cryptocurrencies, I felt the pain to find a secure wallet for storing my coins.
