Boundaries and consent are some of the most important things you can get from somebody. They make it clear how a person is receptive of you and the best way you can respect somebody is to respect the rules that they have set. It's really gross when you try to lay down fair rules so you don't totally break somebody, and they constantly try to push their way beyond those rules and overstep every chance they get. I don't get why people feel they have the right to do this. It can be very jarring to the person you are abusing and is a great way to lose them forever.
