NOTE: THIS CHAMBER IS 100% UNOFFICIAL! I originally dropped this as a comment to somebody else's post addressing spammers. I'm not sure how Noise works, but I think should implement a class/group for "spammers" that shadowbans them. It wouldn't be visible to anybody, and would just be part of the underlying framework that already exists. The way it would work is that any user in this group would have their content hidden from eligible users only. Other spammers, new users, and people that aren't signed in could still see their junk posts. Literally the only way they'd know they were banned would be if one of them had a legit account and checked the others... But I'd be willing to bet none of them do. They wouldn't be able to tip each other because they wouldn't have any free tips to share, and they wouldn't be able to trick legit users into tips because their posts and comments wouldn't even show up for them. This would also mean a possible adjustment to new users, though. I'm not sure if new accounts are eligible by default, but I'd suggest if they are, that they change this and make them ineligible, having to earn eligible status by the algorithm and/or other eligible users ranking them. In my head, this seems like pretty sound logic, but I appreciate if you guys can pick this apart. If Noise staff does end up reading this post, the comment feedback plus my 2 cents on the topic could help create a stronger spam barrier. #NoiseSuggestions
