Oh man! Zojoi is working with Grahfmetal to drop a new Shadowgate game! This one I think is supposed to be along the lines of the TurboGrafx16 game, but re-designed to fit the style of the original Shadwogate game. They just opened the Kickstarter today. there's a "PC Only" demo available that seems to be working fine on Ubuntu. Can't wait to see the final game when it's done!

Mid-late 90's I played Shadowgate on my first computer. I was never really 'into' gaming per se and haven't even attempted playing anything for a few decades now - in fact I didn't have Internet access back then (lived in the middle of nowhere basically, country living) and used the computer basically as something to while away a bit of time and a friend gave me a few floppy discs with games on them - I seem to recall playing Drug Lord also.
It's one of my all-time fave games. The Mac and PC versions were absolutely brutal. The NES one is too, but the music and graphics make it worth enduring. They also released Deja Vu and Uninvited on NES. They're also great.
Sounds like someone is excited. I don't believe I've ever heard of Shadowgate, but then I didn't even enjoy Oregon Trail back then, I was more of an FPS/sidescroller guy.
Oh man, I'm STOKED. This is one of my fave games, and one of the coolest ways to present an adventure game. It's toes the line of text adventure and point-and-click. And it just works really well. I love that they're going back to that style for this one. It's gonna be great.
