The ancient Egyptians revered cats as sacred animals, as evidenced by wall paintings, statues and mummified pets. The ancient Egyptians made sure that their love for animals was preserved for posterity. We know from excavations that they liked to keep small pets, and some even boasted a private zoo. Archaeologists found dozens of mummified cats and cat statues in a tomb in Saqqara, 30 kilometers from Cairo, which shows that these animals had a really special place in the hearts of Egyptians.🐱❤️
