It's been a week that I started my substitute teaching. And to be honest, I can't say that I'm in to it already especially that the subject I handled was way far from my major. I'm also in the point of adjusting for the job of teaching other than Mathematics subject. Within the week, I was having a hard time especially that we only have one laptoo at home which my partner was using. And since Mapeh is the subject that I am handling, I need to download some references especially videos that I will present to the class. And since we only have one laptop, I and my partner need to let the other one use it which was me. But then, since it's a week of computing the grades, it hindrance and made my partner to have a hard time also as I am the one using the laptop. Unless, our schedule are not same, we able to let each other use it.
While I am the one using the laptop, he can't do anything during his vacant time which is kind of waste because vacant time for teachers is important as it was the time they will prepare for the next subject or topic to be discuss. Like for example making lesson plan and powerpoint. And how can we make it if we both need the laptop. Well, for me, if only my subject to be teach is Mathematics, I will surely prefer bpard and chalk rather than using powerpoint presentation because I like to show the step by step solution of an equation. But since I am a Mapeh teacher now, I badly needed a laptop.
Also, our laptop can't connect to wifi. I mean, it will connect but still can't search in chrome or any browser because it's so laggy. That's why my partner told me that we'll buy a laptop for me to have something to use during my class and for downloading videos. I was really hesitant because we don't have money but he said they will have their bunos this coming 15 of November. He said, he'll try to borrow with his co-teacher who lend money and he will pay it when he will receive bunos. I told him, if we can still wait for the bunos before we buy but he insisted because on Monday, I mean this week, he will be busy and will really use our laptop meaning I can't use it during my sessions. So, I don't have any choice but agreed with him. We both went to his friend and asked if he have extra. Fortunately, he had and he said that it's better for me to have a laptop because Mapeh lesson now is about music which needed for video presentation. And he said that I will be having a hard time if I will use manila paper (tap-tap) during discussion. And he said that it's better also because it will be a remembrance for me during my substitute teaching and for sure I can use it in the future.
So, we able to have the money plus our savings. And we got 30k in total in my purse. We then went yesterday in the next town after the Portfolio day. We arruved there around 5pm in the afternoon and was busy looking for good specs. It was 6pm when we decided what to buy. Actually, my partner said that we will buy lenovo or dell since it's user friendly and kind of sturdy. But what we bought was Hp because it has nice specs and seems have a good reviews. We bought it at a price of PHP29,950. It's really pricey for me but my partner said that it's better to buy brandnew than second hand as he was afraid that it will be the same with our laptop.
Now, I am using it already for my lesson this week. I able to made a powerpoint and downloaded videos also. I need to try this one for a week since it has 7 days return and 1 year warranty. But so far, as I am using it today, the laptop was smooth and handy. I am also excited with it because I can use it for online teaching if I like to try ESL online teaching after my substitute teaching.
That's all for today mga madii coz I need to finish the presentation for tomorrow. I have 3 preparations and 6 classes tomorrow. Good night guysesss.
