Marc Falzon’s series on El Salvador and the first weeks of the introduction of the lightning network have been very interesting. https://mobile.twitter.com/MarcFalzon/status/1437538404770750473 Of course you can critique this form of foreign journalism but I do think his work will form part of historical narrative of how cryptocurrency became adopted including its failures and successes. His latest post on Twitter and video shows the difficulty in trying to report on the ground events to an arm chair cult of BTC maxis. It’s actually a real shame for the entire cryptocurrency community. Firstly it’s ridiculous that a government forced payment system doesn’t work - or not ridiculous if you count fiascos such as the UK’s track and trace Corona Virus system and countless other National digital platforms that are bugged. Secondly the responses defending the system are nonsense - either a system works or it doesn’t. The stakes are actually quite high - in the video he quotes a bike salesman but what if it was food or medicine? If it doesn’t work update it or replace it. Prediction - the next bear market low will be in when El Salvador officially drops the requirement to accept Bitcoin due to unforeseen technical issues rendering the system inoperable at nation wide scale.
