Just watched the McGregor Piorier fight. Spoiler alert. First off McGregor looked in trouble early not from the ground and pound but from the straight punches down the middle from Poirier. That happened very early on often it takes Poirier a round or two to find the range but he had it on the button straight off. I think this is what led to the early ground fight McGregor was already stunned and went for a guillotine choke - very basic move and McGregor doesn’t have the arms to finish it against a grappler of Poiriers calibre. However was very surprised to see McGregors leg break that low down in the shin. Don’t see the need for a 4th fight Prioier has his number and I can’t see McGregor changing his fighting system to compensate. At the moment does the best version of McGregor bear Prioier - no and thats been proven twice in a row now. McGregors career now in big trouble - his entire offences is based on confidence and this is going to be a major blow to that. Two take aways for me 1. Proirier has matured into a very dangerous fighter deserved of a tittle shot 2. Sad to see it given the way he transformed the sport but - McGregor is now past his prime by a long way - would not be surprised to see him move to commentary and TV/Film.
