The axolotl is a species of ambistomatid caudate amphibian of the genus Ambystoma related to the tiger salamander. It was originally described by George Kearsley Shaw and Frederick Polydore Nodder. It is endemic to the lake system of the Basin of Mexico and has had a great influence on Mexican culture. _____________________________________ El ajolote, es una especie de anfibio caudado ambistomátido del género Ambystoma relacionado con la salamandra tigre.
